About this course

Outline Outline

This new, accelerated 12-month master course has been designed to meet changed health industry demands, both across the Australian health sector and globally, that require advanced practice clinicians, clinical leadership and clinical research skills in identified areas of healthcare.

The first of its kind in Western Australia, this course combines specialisations in clinical practice with research practice. It is suitable for registered nurses, midwives, paramedics and oral-health therapists wanting to develop distinctive careers involving research activities within clinical settings.

You will learn the skills of evidence-informed clinical practice, including relevant health-care policy standards and strategies that enable translation of evidence into practice.

You will also explore qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research processes, and related ethical considerations, for applied health research and evaluation practices.

You will then consolidate your learning with a research project in one of the following specialisations from your graduate certificate:

  • Acute Care Nursing
  • Advanced Specialty Practice
  • Child and Adolescent Health Nursing
  • Clinical Leadership
  • Critical Care Nursing
  • Diabetes Studies
  • Wound, Ostomy and Continence Practice

This course is structured so you can study a postgraduate health specialisation of your choice as part of a graduate certificate or the Master of Advanced Practice. The graduate certificate is a progressive course in that you can choose to pause your studies after gaining your graduate certificate or continue studying for your master's degree.
