Courses in the Graduate Certificate in Health Science

You complete 60 points, including at least 45 points from level 7 courses.

You'll be guided to select your courses in a given subject area.

AUT's addiction courses equip students with the skills to work effectively with people who have substance use or other behavioural-related addiction issues in a range of settings.

DAPAANZ registration

Students who want to be considered for dapaanz registration will need to complete MENH704 Theories and Principles for Addiction Practice and MENH705 Assessment and Intervention in Addiction Practice, and will also need to hold or be completing an applied bachelor's degree in counselling, psychotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, social work, medicine, or similar.

Already working as a dental therapist or oral health therapist? Studying the oral health courses below will enable you to provide adult restorative care for patients of all ages.

You'll study two 30-point courses, one in each semester, and will be able to complete these courses in one year part-time; enabling you to fit your study around your work and family commitments. These courses are only offered at the AUT North Campus.

Please note there will be some material costs you need to pay for, in addition to the tuition fees and compulsory student services levy you need to pay.

Courses you study*

Semester 1

Your studies will be a mix of online tutorials, workshops and in-person simulation.

Semester 2

This semester, your studies will include online lectures and tutorials, workshops and 80 hours of clinical practice (1 day a week).

*If you haven't undertaken a pharmacology course as part of your previous degree, you need to complete the course PHMY701 Pharmacology before you're offered a place in this programme.
