Course structure

You can choose to study the Bachelor of Health Science without choosing a major, following an individual pathway. This is a great way to tailor the degree to your interests and prepare yourself for a wide range of non-clinical careers.

As part of your degree you can include one or two minors from subjects across AUT, or develop skills in subjects like medical interpreting and translation, health administration or health advocacy.

Year 1Semester 1 courses

You develop an in-depth understanding of general healthcare, learning alongside other health science students.

Semester 2 courses

You're introduced to the available pathways and minor options in Semester 2.

Years 2 and 3

The following years of study will depend on your interests and career goals. You can choose from courses from the Bachelor of Health Science and other AUT degrees.

Courses need to be approved by your programme leader.

Include a minor in your degree

You can include one or two minors as part of your degree. You can choose from a range of minors across AUT - from education, business and health promotion, to history, New Zealand Sign Language and human resource management. Your minor(s) will be listed on your academic transcript when you graduate.
