Certificate
This highly practical qualification is delivered concurrently with the NZ2661 New Zealand Certificate in Drainlaying (Level 4) and forms part of the requirements for a registered plumber.
Following best practice standards you'll learn how to install, maintain and repair plumbing systems such as water supply (including backflow), domestic fire sprinklers, solar water heating, rainwater handling, ventilation, solid fuel heating, ducting, pumps and sanitary plumbing of appliances and fixtures. You'll also learn how to use and maintain plumbing hand tools and trade equipment, interpret plumbing drawings and specifications, work with consideration of other construction trades and how to practice safely and ethically while meeting the legislative responsibilities of a licensed plumber.
This programme is designed for individuals who are working in the industry and is typically achieved in a workplace environment while completing an apprenticeship. Please contact us for further information about Ara Managed Apprenticeships.
Part-time, 3 years.
When you graduate with this qualification you can apply for registration as a plumber with the Plumbers, Gasfitters and Drainlayers Board. Your registration will be dependent on you meeting the PGDB's requirements. Career options include working as a plumber for a private company or completing the certification examination and becoming an independent contractor.
