    The Master of Applied Theatre Studies provides students with a unique opportunity to study applied theatre and performance at a postgraduate level entirely via distance education. This is currently the only course of its nature in Australia.

    Entry Requirements

    A candidate shall:

    1. (a) hold an AQF Level 7 Bachelor qualification with a major or equivalent in Theatre Studies and have 2 years' experience as a performer or director or designer or playwright or teacher;
    or

    (b) hold an AQF Level 8 Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Bachelor with Honours or AQF Level 9 Masters qualification in a relevant discipline*;
    and

    2. All applicants must submit a preliminary research proposal (approximately 500-800 words) which should:

    (i) describe their proposed creative project for the Master of Applied Theatre Studies;

    (ii) include a rationale for the choice of creative work in the context of the overall research project and explain why this is significant;
    and

    (iii) include a short reference list.

    Applicants are advised to discuss this proposal with the course coordinator before submission.

    Entry Requirements

    A candidate shall be qualified for admission (see

    )
    ;
    and

    (a) shall complete a satisfactory written personal statement assessed by the discipline within six months prior to the date of enrolment;
    and

    (b) shall have on admission to the degree a performing standard equivalent to Grade 6 of the Australian Examinations Board demonstrated via audition or music performance qualifications;
    and

    (c) shall have on admission to the degree a music theory standard equivalent to Grade 4 of the Australian Music Examinations Board demonstrated via music performancequalifications or the successful completion of a music theory test set by the Music Discipline Convenor.

    OR

    Former or current UNE students may transfer into the Diploma in Music on the basis of previous Music studies completed as part of a University of New England degree where they have:

    (a) completed MUSI121 with a Credit grade or higher;
    and

    (b) completed MUSI101 or MUSI110 or MUSI111 with a Credit grade or higher.

    Bachelor (Honours)

    The Bachelor of Music (Honours) is a one-year Bachelor Honours degree available to students after graduating with the three-year Bachelor of Music.

    Entry Requirements

    To be eligible for admission to this Honours program, a student will be expected to meet the following requirements:

    • have successfully completed the requirements of a Bachelor of Music or hold a three or four year degree in music from a recognised university which is equivalent to the Bachelor of Music at Griffith University;
    • have achieved a minimum cumulative GPA of 5.6 (on a scale of 7.0) or equivalent from a recognised University (consideration will be given to students who achieve a minimum GPA of 5.6 in the final year of their program);
    • have a minimum grade of 6.0 in two Music Literature courses or demonstrate a standard equivalent to a grade of 6.0 in two music literature courses from a recognised University AND have completed 2329QCM Introduction to Music Research (or equivalent) and achieved a minimum grade of 6.0;
    • for students wishing to undertake Performance Study (as part of their Honours Research Project) have a minimum grade of 6.0 in Performance Study 3 (Part 2) or equivalent from a recognised University;
    • for students wishing to undertake Composition Study (as part of their Honours Research Project) have a minimum grade of 6.0 in Composition Study 3 (Part 2) or equivalent from a recognised University;
    • provide a Dissertation Research proposal (maximum 1000 words) of satisfactory standard in the format prescribed by the Conservatorium [Honours Proposal Proforma].

    To be eligible for admission to the Master of Environmental Engineering, students must hold:

    • a three year bachelor degree in Engineering from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing)
    • OR a bachelor degree or bachelor Honours degree in an environment-related field from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) with at least two years full-time equivalent relevant work experience
    • OR a four year bachelor degree or bachelor Honours degree in Engineering from a recognised University (or another tertiary education institution of equivalent standing) and these students will be eligible for 40 credit points of advanced standing towards the program.

    All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students.

    Assessment of Qualifications

    Unless otherwise indicated, ANU will accept all Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications or international equivalents that meet or exceed the published admission requirements of our programs, provided all other admission requirements are also met. Where an applicant has more than one completed tertiary qualification, ANU will base assessment on the qualification that best meets the admission requirements for the program.     ANU uses a 7-point Grade Point Average (GPA) scale. All qualifications submitted for admission at ANU will be converted to this common scale, which will determine if an applicant meets our published admission requirements.     Unless otherwise indicated, where an applicant has more than one completed tertiary qualification, ANU will calculate the GPA for each qualification separately. ANU will base assessment on the best GPA of all completed tertiary qualifications of the same level or higher.
