    To study this course you must have the following pre-requisites:

    • trade certificate (Automotive)
    • current automotive apprentice (at least third year)
    • you must obtain a Classroom (CL000) OR Trainee (TL000) Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Trainee Licence through the Australian Refrigeration Council before you can attend workshop training at SM TAFE. Please allow up to seven days to obtain this. More information can be found at www.arctick.org
    About the Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Trainee Licence

    Two types of trainee licence are available:

    • Trainee (TL000 Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Trainee License)
      For supervised handling of refrigerant in workplace and classroom, this license is preferred. The supervisor must be the holder of a licence that entitles them to engage in work for which the licensee is being trained.
    • Trainee classroom (CL000 Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Trainee License - Classroom)
      For handling of refrigeration in classroom only. The licensee cannot handle refrigerant outside the classroom setting. This license type requires a signed Trainers Declaration received after enrolment and payment.

    To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

    • English (Units 3 & 4, C), and
    • General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)
