    Entry Requirements

    To be eligible for admission to the Doctor of Arts you must have a minimum of five years' recent, full-time employment or professional experience in a relevant field and completed the equivalent of one of the following in a subject area related to your proposed research area:

    • bachelor's degree with first class or second class honours or, a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney with a substantial portfolio of published / professional work (such as books, films, TV programs, creative work and / or government reports) equivalent to or greater than an undergraduate honours thesis; or
    • a master's degree.

    These constitute the minimum requirements for eligibility and do not guarantee admission. This remains at the discretion of the relevant supervisors and departments. The University must certify that there are sufficient supervisory and other resources and facilities available to enable your candidature to be completed successfully.

    Offered in collaboration with TAFE SA* through Adelaide College of the Arts, this degree will equip you with elite professional dance skills and theoretical knowledge. You will cover areas such as dance technique, devised movement practices, dance project realisation, choreography and stage performance, and emerge with all the makings of a successful professional dancer.

    Additional entry requirements Applicants must also attend an audition involving participation in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance Technique, Repertory and Improvisation. The Audition Panel, comprising lecturing staff of the Adelaide College of the Arts and Flinders University and a physiotherapist, will assess and score each student. This score will form part of the non-academic criteria for admission at both TAFE SA and Flinders University. Applicants will be mailed an audition pack by TAFE SA once an application has been submitted and will be contacted to book an audition time. Download brochure Admission pathways Applicants can apply for this course using Year 12 qualifications, previous Higher Education study, TAFE/VET qualifications, or through Adult Entry (STAT/Foundation Studies/tertiary preparation course). For applicants using their SACE (Year 12) results (or equivalent), entry is subject to achieving a minimum selection rank of 60. Applicants who do not meet the University’s minimum entry requirements may still be considered for admission subject to meeting certain conditions. Applicants will start in the TAFE component and upon completing the equivalent of a Certificate III/Diploma (for example) will have their University offer confirmed.     English language requirements

    IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6. For other English Language Proficiency Tests and Scores approved for UQ

    TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.

    PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.

    BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.

    CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.

    OET is not accepted.

    Student visas

    International students who are accepted into full-time study in the Bachelors of Business Management / Economics are eligible to apply for an Australian student visa (subclass 500).

    There are a number of requirements you must satisfy before a visa is granted, including the Genuine Student (GS) requirement.
