Transmit and Receive Information by the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System skill set

<div>This certificate will allow you to work as:<ul><li>Master on commercial vessels up to 35 metres long within the exclusive economic zone (EEZ).</li> <li>Master on vessels up to 80 metres long in inshore waters.</li> <li>Chief mate or deck watchkeeper on vessels up to 80 metres long within the EEZ.</li> </ul>In addition to successful completion of the Certificate IV in Maritime Operations (Master up to 35 metres Near Coastal), the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) requires students to successfully complete each of the following to be issued with a new certificate of competency:<ul><li>Be at least 16 years old on the certificate issue date</li> <li>Hold either a Master less than 24 metres near coastal or Mate less than 80 metres near coastal certificate of competency.</li> <li>Meet medical test and eyesight requirements</li> <li>Completed qualifying sea service time, refer to AMSA requirements for more details</li> <li>Pass a final assessment at an AMSA office</li> </ul>Refer to the following information provided on the AMSA website for further details. 2021 dates:<ul><li>Term 1 week commencing 1 February </li> <li>Term 3 week commencing 19 July</li> </ul>This qualification is directly aligned with priority industry areas where the jobs are today, and into the future.
