    Additional entry requirements Applicants must also attend an audition involving participation in Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance Technique, Repertory and Improvisation. The Audition Panel, comprising lecturing staff of the Adelaide College of the Arts and Flinders University and a physiotherapist, will assess and score each student. This score will form part of the non-academic criteria for admission at both TAFE SA and Flinders University. Applicants will be mailed an audition pack by TAFE SA once an application has been submitted and will be contacted to book an audition time. Download brochure Admission pathways Applicants can apply for this course using Year 12 qualifications, previous Higher Education study, TAFE/VET qualifications, or through Adult Entry (STAT/Foundation Studies/tertiary preparation course). For applicants using their SACE (Year 12) results (or equivalent), entry is subject to achieving a minimum selection rank of 60. Applicants who do not meet the University’s minimum entry requirements may still be considered for admission subject to meeting certain conditions. Applicants will start in the TAFE component and upon completing the equivalent of a Certificate III/Diploma (for example) will have their University offer confirmed.     Entry Requirements

    For admission as a candidate, an applicant will:

    • hold a bachelor degree with first-class or second-class honours (Division A) or equivalent qualification from a recognised institution or
    • hold a masters degree from a recognised institution or equivalent qualification deemed by the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School to be of a standard comparable at least to a bachelor degree with second class honours (Division A) or
    • possess a record of research or a qualification granted by a professional or other body, deemed by the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School to be of a standard comparable at least to a bachelor degree with second-class honours (Division A)
    • have been enrolled in a research Masters degree at the University for not less than one year as a full-time candidate and two years as a part-time candidate and will have had their work as a research Masters candidate certified by the Dean to be of a standard required for candidature in a professional doctorate.

    Students admitted to the Doctor of Musical Arts program will normally have at least five years professional experience.

    A portfolio assessment and/or interview will be part of the admission process. If specialist equipment or computer programs are required, this must be stated within the application. In cases where the candidate does not meet all formal criteria, the Dean, Griffith Graduate Research School can establish equivalence on the basis of curriculum vitae, portfolio and publications.

    To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years old at the start of the course and hold a minimum qualification of VCE/HSC or an equivalent for entry.

    All applicants are required to attend an interview and present a portfolio of recent design work that showcases a range of creative and technical skills. The interview and portfolio presentation will be conducted by experienced staff members at the Chadstone campus. The entire process generally takes no longer than 20 minutes. This serves as an opportunity to assess the applicants' skill level, interest, creativity, and ability to apply the design process at the undergraduate level.

    Applicants should meet the selection requirements of the relevant category as detailed below.

    Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years) should meet the following selection requirements

    Applicants with higher education study
    Applicants who have started or completed an award course at any Australian university are eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Fashion Design course.

    Applicants with Vocational Education and Training (VET) study
    Applicants who have successfully completed MST20616 Certificate II in Applied Fashion Design and Technology and/or MST40516 Certificate IV in Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising, or an equivalent qualification, are eligible for admission into the Bachelor of Fashion Design (BFD16) course without advanced standing.

    Applicants who have completed the MST50116 Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising and/or the MST60116 Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising, or an equivalent qualification, may be eligible for advanced standing in some subjects.

    Applicants with work and life experience
    Applicants without prior higher education or VET study, who are non-senior secondary applicants, may be eligible for admission if they can demonstrate their ability through previous study and/or a minimum of five years' work experience in the fashion/textiles industry or a related occupation.

    It is recommended that applicants have satisfactory numeracy and literacy skills to undertake this course. Applicants will attend an interview with staff members who consider previous levels of achievement, resumes, and employment records as indicators of aptitude and commitment to the study of fashion at the undergraduate level.
