All applicants must complete the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) assessment and achieve a competency of at least Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both language and numeracy. Account details and instructions will be sent to you within 24 hours of applying. If you have previously undertaken the Literacy and Numeracy Assessment - we will review your results and notify you if further action is required.

On successful completion of a BKSB you will then be asked to answer 5 application questions in writing.

To meet academic requirements for Diploma or Advanced Diploma courses, you need to successfully complete any TasTAFE course entry procedures and you also need to:

• Have completed year 12 and provide TasTAFE with a copy of your Australian Senior Secondary Certificate of Education awarded to you by an agency or authority of a State or Territory; OR,


• Provide TasTAFE with a copy of a qualification at Level 4 or above in the Australian Qualifications Framework that was awarded to you. This qualification must have been delivered in English; OR,


• Complete an approved language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment and display competence at or above Exit Level 3 in the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in both literacy and numeracy.

For entry, applicants must show evidence that they have a Registered Working with Vulnerable People Card (RWVP) or a receipt that the applicant has applied for a RWVP card. A RWVP card is a requirement of the National Quality Framework Regulations for Early Education environments (if a receipt is used as evidence the card must be shown as evidence prior to starting the course).

You will be required to undertake the Basic Key Skills Builder (BKSB) to confirm you have the required Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills to work at Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) exit level 2 or higher. Applicants will be required to undertake a career conversation including a literacy and numeracy questionnaire* as part of their application. This process will take place either face to face or online depending on applicants' availability, and applicants will be fully supported throughout the process. *an outcome of exit level 2 in literacy and exit level 2 in numeracy is desired for entry to this course.

• One year's welding experience, subsequent to or during an apprenticeship to an acceptable trade, including 40 hours training in the welding of pipe using the manual metal-arc welding process; or
• Two years' welding experience and documentary evidence of the successful completion of one or more welding programs, which includes at least 300 hours training in the theory and practice of welding and, during or subsequent to this period, 40 hours training in the welding of pipe using the manual metal-arc welding process; or
• Three years' welding experience and, during or subsequent to this period, 40 hours training in the welding of pipe using the metal-arc welding process.
