Fire engineers specialise in the application of science and engineering principles to protect people and their environment from destructive fire.
Entry Requirements
You will normally need to have completed one of the following:
Bachelor of Engineering with Honours with First or Second Class Honours
Postgraduate Certificate in Engineering with a GPA of 5 or more
Bachelor of Science with Honours in appropriate subjects.
You must have completed both the academic and non-academic requirements of your prerequisite degree. This includes practical work days, work reports, a workshop training course, and a first aid certificate. The programme of study must be approved.
IF English is your additional language, you are also required to meet UC's English language requirements.

How to apply
You will need to complete an application form for the MEFE from Te Kaupeka Puhanga | Faculty of Engineering website.
Applications for admission are considered twice each year (June and December) for studies commencing in February of the following year. Numbers are limited each year. Applications received during the year will be considered in the next application round. It is recommended that international students apply by June.

The difference between a traineeship and an apprenticeship is that a traineeship can be either a full time or part time employment based training arrangement, usually for a nominal duration of 12 months or more, generally in a non-trade related area.

The BTchLn has one intake each February. Selection for entry is based on:
Involvement and interest in working with children, community involvement, and other personal qualities as outlined in the Guide to Applying
a police check, referees' reports, and an interview
a short literacy and numeracy test
communication skills.
Those wanting to enrol in the Matauranga Maori endorsement will also need to hui with the Endorsement Coordinator to determine the right starting point for you based on your level of te reo Maori.

The Bachelor of Maori Innovation (BMINN) was created for the next generation of graduates who want to evolve our nation and future thinking through both Western and indigenous worldviews.

The BMINN is open to enrolments in 2024.
The BMINN is open to those with work in the iwi sector, which can include organisations owned by Maori, or a dedicated Kaupapa Maori team or unit within an organisation or government.
Your employer will need to provide verification of your employment, and a partnership agreement with UC to make sure you have support for both your study commitments and workload.
