    Direct entry is permitted for all qualifications within the SIT Hospitality Training Package. Learners have the opportunity to enrol in these qualifications without the necessity of prior experience.

    Entry Requirements

    Pre-requisite: Students must have completed an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) or equivalent recognised Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Hospitality, Tourism or Hotel Management to gain entry into this course.

    English Requirements:

    If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

    Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

    • a secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
    • tertiary diploma level qualification, or
    • bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0
    • completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.

    If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

    • An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 overall with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Based Test); or
    • Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
    • An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components; or
    • Cambridge Certificate in advanced English (CAE) - Score of 180 or above; or
    • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English - Score of 200 or above; or
    • Combined Universities Language Test (CULT) - 70% with no individual component score of less than 15.

    English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

    Admission requirements for all applicants

    Supplementary Application Form
    The Supplementary Application Form is used to identify entry options into the Bachelor of Hospitality Management. Applicants have the opportunity to include information about previous studies and work experience.

    For applicants with no prior hospitality industry or educational experience, the form will be used as the sole basis of information (along with ATAR if relevant), with a follow-up interview generally not required. However, if an applicant would like the opportunity to be interviewed, a request can be made through the contact details included on the Supplementary Application form.

    Interview
    Based on a review of the supplementary application form, some applicants will be asked to attend an interview with a representative of the BHM team.

    This is to verify information in the supplementary application form, such as prior work and educational experience. Applicants will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the course structure and how it might apply to them. Discussion at the interview will cover placement opportunities and specific areas of the hospitality industry the applicant is looking to pursue.

    Applicants should bring along academic transcripts. They are also welcome to bring a support person. Requests can be made for a teleconference for any applicants unable to attend in person.

    Applicants will be contacted by Holmesglen to organise a suitable interview time. Interview details will be confirmed by mail or email and are generally conducted within two weeks of receiving the supplementary application form.

    Applicants with recent secondary education (within the past two years)
    ATAR - This course uses the ATAR as part of its selection considerations.
    Applicants who wish their professional or community experience to be considered are required to complete a Bachelor of Hospitality Management supplementary application form and submit by email.
    Based on a review of the supplementary form, some applicants may also be required to attend an interview.

    Advanced Standing
    Graduates of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management can receive advanced standing of up to 48 or 72 credit points respectively.

    Articulation pathways are available from other related diplomas and advanced diplomas, such as Tourism, Events and/or Business.
