<div>This three-year degree will give you the skills needed to succeed in a number of branches of the performing arts. You'll gain practical experience in performance and production work in key theatre disciplines such as acting, singing and dance, as well as studies in spoken voice, music theory, theatre history, technical theatre skills and research methods. From the second year, you will refine your programme of study to suit your strengths and interests, while learning to integrate the skills you learnt in first year. In the final year, most assessment is focused on your Capstone project, a large, self-directed year-long project that you design! This project allows for considerable work integrated learning in industry settings, including the possibility of working in professional productions, and further specialisations to develop other, related skills within the worlds of applied theatre and theatre for the stage. You'll learn from experienced performers and teachers who are dedicated to helping you make the most of your career. </div>

<div>You will learn to create a full range of screen genres, including drama, light entertainment, music videos, commercials, documentary and news, from conception to publication. We prepare you for entry into the screen industry with professional competencies matched to industry standards. This programme is kept relevant and cutting edge through continuous feedback from the industry. Your career connections will be advanced with a 24 week industry internship in a broadcast media or production company. When you graduate from the New Zealand Broadcasting School you will be able to meet the needs of the industry from your very first day on the job. This programme is a full time 3-year degree that is delivered in 2 ½ years (including a 6-month internship). In our most recent graduate survey, 93.1% of 2016 Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications graduates were in employment (Ara Graduate Outcome Survey, 2016). <div>Our Bachelor of Music covers all the skills and knowledge you need to be a multi-faceted professional musician. It's built around collaboration - you'll learn the foundational skills and apply them in group projects and classes that directly mirror the real world of the music industry.More than half the programme content is practical in nature, a higher proportion than most music degrees in New Zealand. This includes regular structured rehearsals, in-class demonstrations and numerous performance opportunities including concerts and gigs with staff and other students. With such a focus on the practical, you're a musician from day one at Ara.The degree offers three pathways: Music Creation (composition), Music Performance and Music Production. This choice lets you specialise in the area you're passionate about, while learning alongside and working with musicians from other pathways. Your third-year capstone project allows you to design your own major project (which can include a work placement if relevant) with dedicated specialist tutor support.At Ara you'll learn from a great team of tutors who are each also professional, working musicians. They perform, write and record across the country, from the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra to Salmonella Dub and everything in between. Note: Successful applicants will be invited to audition in Christchurch or Auckland and will be contacted with specific time slots.
