<div><p>This three-year degree will give you the skills needed to succeed in a number of branches of the performing arts.</p> <p>You'll gain practical experience in performance and production work in key theatre disciplines such as acting, singing and dance, as well as studies in spoken voice, music theory, theatre history, technical theatre skills and research methods. </p>  <p>From the second year, you will refine your programme of study to suit your strengths and interests, while learning to integrate the skills you learnt in first year.</p>  <p>In the final year, most assessment is focused on your Capstone project, a large, self-directed year-long project that you design! This project allows for considerable work integrated learning in industry settings, including the possibility of working in professional productions, and further specialisations to develop other, related skills within the worlds of applied theatre and theatre for the stage.</p>  <p>You'll learn from experienced performers and teachers who are dedicated to helping you make the most of your career.</p>  </div>

<div><p>Our Bachelor of Music covers all the skills and knowledge you need to be a multi-faceted professional musician. It's built around collaboration - you'll learn the foundational skills and apply them in group projects and classes that directly mirror the real world of the music industry.</p><p>More than half the programme content is practical in nature, a higher proportion than most music degrees in New Zealand. This includes regular structured rehearsals, in-class demonstrations and numerous performance opportunities including concerts and gigs with staff and other students. With such a focus on the practical, you're a musician from day one at Ara.</p><p>The degree offers three pathways: Music Creation (composition), Music Performance and Music Production. This choice lets you specialise in the area you're passionate about, while learning alongside and working with musicians from other pathways. Your third-year capstone project allows you to design your own major project (which can include a work placement if relevant) with dedicated specialist tutor support.</p><p>At Ara you'll learn from a great team of tutors who are each also professional, working musicians. Bachelor of Music Theatre

<div><p>Dual Enrolment programmes are FREE if you're in Years 11, 12 or 13 and a great way to earn NCEA credits and get a feel for tertiary study, while you're still at school.</p>    <p>This course will suit you if you're interested in a career in digital creative design and you have some prior experience of gaming, digital media or IT. It's centred around projects that make use of Unreal Engine. You'll gain an understanding of established design ideas and methods; learn drawing techniques; explore design principles and develop ideas through a series of drawings.</p>  <p>Students attend classes at the Madras Campus one day per week (9am - 3pm) for the duration of the programme, as well as being able to complete work remotely between classes in the iQualify online learning platform.</p>  <p>Location: Christchurch</p>  <p>*Places are limited and funding is dependent on availability. Some courses may incur costs, depending on the learner's eligibility. Part-time 1 year.</p></div>

NASDA For A Day

<div><p>This degree will enable you to become an independent art practitioner, photographer or designer. You'll learn how to frame and develop creative ideas through hands-on interaction with a range of media, and you'll gain professional and business skills for self-employment.</p>  <p>Core skills taught include design strategies, drawing, printmaking, painting, photography, and sculpture. In addition, you'll choose three courses from a range of electives which will enable you to develop complementary skills in particular areas of interest.</p>  <p>As well as studio courses, you'll complete a group of core courses in academic subjects. These include both professional and contextual studies, which will equip you with developed communication skills, a background in the history and sociology of creative practices, insights into contemporary professional ethics and some business skills.</p>  <p>Please note: This degree is currently undergoing its regulatory five-yearly review. Courses may change slightly once the review is approved. This will not affect your enrolment status.</p>    </div>
