<div><p>This three-year degree will give you the skills needed to succeed in a number of branches of the performing arts.</p> <p>You'll gain practical experience in performance and production work in key theatre disciplines such as acting, singing and dance, as well as studies in spoken voice, music theory, theatre history, technical theatre skills and research methods. </p>  <p>From the second year, you will refine your programme of study to suit your strengths and interests, while learning to integrate the skills you learnt in first year.</p>  <p>In the final year, most assessment is focused on your Capstone project, a large, self-directed year-long project that you design! This project allows for considerable work integrated learning in industry settings, including the possibility of working in professional productions, and further specialisations to develop other, related skills within the worlds of applied theatre and theatre for the stage.</p>  <p>You'll learn from experienced performers and teachers who are dedicated to helping you make the most of your career.</p>  </div>

Bachelor of Music Theatre - PENDING EXTERNAL APPROVAL

<div><p>Our Bachelor of Music covers all the skills and knowledge you need to be a multi-faceted professional musician. It's built around collaboration - you'll learn the foundational skills and apply them in group projects and classes that directly mirror the real world of the music industry.</p><p>More than half the programme content is practical in nature, a higher proportion than most music degrees in New Zealand. This includes regular structured rehearsals, in-class demonstrations and numerous performance opportunities including concerts and gigs with staff and other students. With such a focus on the practical, you're a musician from day one at Ara.</p><p>The degree offers three pathways: Music Creation (composition), Music Performance and Music Production. This choice lets you specialise in the area you're passionate about, while learning alongside and working with musicians from other pathways. Your third-year capstone project allows you to design your own major project (which can include a work placement if relevant) with dedicated specialist tutor support.</p><p>At Ara you'll learn from a great team of tutors who are each also professional, working musicians. NASDA For A Day

<div><p>Our Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications degree specialising in journalism is a highly practical programme providing you with the skills and theory to break news stories and be actively involved with the production of news for radio, television or online media.</p> <p>Early in your studies you'll gain a strong grounding in broadcasting and communications theory, writing and researching news bulletins for our radio station. You'll also report TV news stories for broadcast and online.</p> <p>In close collaboration with our media partners, our programme has been designed to produce graduates who will meet the needs of the industry. Our 24-week industry internship gives you more real-world experience, builds your industry contacts and gives you a real edge when it comes to securing your first job.</p></div>

Bachelor of Broadcasting Communications (Journalism)

<div><p>One of the most important resources in an organisation is its people. This specialisation will develop your management skills and knowledge in people and culture. During your studies you'll analyse organisational staff behaviour and its impact on business, and learn about wellbeing leadership, health and safety and the latest employment legislation. In your final year you'll explore advanced HR strategy and contemporary issues in human resource management.</p>    <p>Flexibility has been built into this degree, allowing you to not only to study part-time, full-time and/or in the evenings, but to choose two specialisations at no extra cost and requiring no additional time. Alternatively, you can personalise your degree by including up to five elective courses (Level 5 and above, equal to 15 credits each) from any subject area of your choosing.</p></div>

Bachelor of Applied Management (Human Resource Management)

<div><p>In this graduate diploma you'll develop an understanding of human resource management practices and processes and their impacts on organisational effectiveness. You'll also learn how to apply human resource management principles, tools and concepts in the workplace, to help staff and businesses meet their objectives.</p>    <p>Areas of study will include employment relations, organisational behaviour, human resource management, contemporary issues in human resource management and health, safety and wellbeing leadership. Additionally, you'll channel the knowledge and skills you acquire into a practical industry project for a local business or organisation, in which you'll address business issues or advance business opportunities. In the process, you'll strengthen your understanding of human resource management.</p>    <p>Part-time up to four years.</p></div>
