    This course has been developed in conjunction with Fire and Police agencies in Australasia and the Australasian Fire and Emergency Service Authorities Council (AFAC). This course provides accredited training in critical areas of fire investigation.

    Entry Requirements

    To enter this course you must:

    Be working in a Fire Investigation role as you will be required to carry out work-based activities to complete the course
    AND
    Be working in the fire sector, that is, those sections of government departments, statutory authorities or organisations that have responsibility under jurisdictional arrangements for the delivery of firefighting and fire management services.
    OR
    Be working in the police sector in a policing agency.
    OR
    Be working in another organisation, either private or public, that requires the fire investigation qualification.
    If you are a sponsored student and your workplace is paying for you to study, you must have support from your workplace.
    Before undertaking this qualification, candidates working in the fire sector must achieve the following pre-requisite units:

    • PUALAW002 Conduct initial investigation at incident scene
    • PUALAW001 Protect and preserve incident scene
    • PUAFIR210 Prevent injury
    • PUAFIR302 Suppress urban fire

    This statement of attainment is for only individuals who hold one of the 10 Automotive qualifications listed below, who work in automotive mechanical or electrical technical contexts, and would like to apply for an Refrigerant Handling Licence (RHL)/AAC02 - Automotive Air Conditioning Licence.

    Entry Requirements

    Prospective students interested in enrolling in this course are strongly encouraged to have either attained the Australian Year 12 Certificate or gained relevant industry experience. However, if you have not obtained either of these, an interview will be required to assess your suitability for the program. This interview serves to gather additional information and to customise support tailored to your transition into a new career path. Conveniently, the interview can be conducted either in person at the CIT Bruce campus, via a phone call, or through an online meeting platform.

    Upon enrolment, we'll evaluate your Language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills through a specific activity. If we find any areas where you could use some extra support, we may suggest additional Foundation Skills subjects to help strengthen your abilities, thereby increasing your chances of success in the course.

    Before undertaking any industry placement, you will be required to undertake a 'Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP)' background check or State equivalent.

    Skills and knowledge may have been acquired through experience in creative practice or formal study such as a completion of a Certificate IV in Visual Arts CUA41320 or its predecessor.

    Students who have achieved a Skill Set from the Certificate IV can progress to the same Diploma Skill Set. EG: Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Digital Art with discussion and approval of the teacher.
