    Master of Creative Writing

    Masters (Coursework)

    The Master of Creative Writing (MCW) is a 180-credit programme that can follow on immediately from your bachelor's degree in any subject.

    Entry Requirements

    This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

    To enter the Master of Creative Writing you will:

    • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree with at least a B grade average across the 200 and 300-level specialisation courses, or
    • have a bachelor's with honours degree or a postgraduate diploma in arts in Creative Writing, Expressive Arts or English, with at least a B grade average for the qualification.

    You will be selected into the programme on the basis of a process which includes providing:

    • a summary of your research interests: a brief (one to two paragraphs) outline of your proposed MCW thesis, summarising your proposed creative project (about 70% of the thesis) and proposed critical project (about 30% of the thesis). Please indicate the genre in which you would like to write your creative thesis in this outline. Critical projects usually take the form of a literary essay, a craft essay, or an exegesis
    • a portfolio of your creative writing (please refer below)
    • confirmation that your creative writing portfolio is your own personal work.

    If you have a bachelor's with honours degree or postgraduate diploma in arts in Creative Writing, Expressive Arts or English as outlined above, you may apply for credit towards Part One of the qualification in accordance with the limits specified in the Recognition of Prior Learning regulations.

    You will need to provide verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.

    Note: This programme may have an on-campus or in-person requirement and therefore requires that students submit a current My Vaccine Pass on enrolment. Massey's Master of Engineering Studies combines taught and research courses at a postgraduate level.

    Entry Requirements

    To enter the Graduate Diploma in Aviation you will:

    • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree, or equivalent, or
    • have demonstrated equivalent practical, professional and/or scholarly experience
    • meet the prerequisite requirements for the 200-level courses.

    If you do not have a bachelor's degree, you will need to supply a copy of your CV including academic and work history.

    Entry Requirements

    This programme is a selected entry programme. This means there are a number of extra requirements you must meet.

    To enter the Bachelor of Aviation programme, you must pass NCEA Level 3/Year 13 or equivalent in an 'English-rich' subject. These include one of the following:

    • classical studies
    • English
    • geography
    • history
    • history of art
    • media studies
    • religious education (RE)
    • business studies
    • biology
    • economics.

    When you first apply online you need to:

    • provide a CV including academic and work history
    • have completed a trial flight
    • provide any information of circumstances in your past personal or professional life that might make you ineligible to train for, or hold, a professional pilots licence in New Zealand (see below for more information).

    If you already have a NZCAA Class One Medical Certificate please also upload a copy with your application. But this is not essential for your initial application.

    The Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism is based on leading overseas journalism qualifications. It is for those with no journalism experience who wish to enter the industry, or those with some experience who wish to develop specialist knowledge.

    Entry Requirements

    To enter the Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism you will:

    • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least a B- grade average in the 300-level majoring courses or equivalent

    The Graduate Diploma in Journalism enables you to study another subject without completing a second bachelor's degree. The graduate diploma is a bridging tool to gain the equivalent of an undergraduate major in a specific area so you can go on to postgraduate study.

    Entry Requirements

    To enter the Graduate Diploma in Journalism you will:

    • have been awarded or qualified for an undergraduate degree or an equivalent qualification, or
    • have been admitted to the qualification on the basis of equivalent relevant professional experience.

    To ensure this qualification is right for you, you will be required to submit a short personal statement detailing why you wish to study this qualification and your relevant industry experience (if any).

    If you already have an undergraduate degree, you are strongly advised to consider doing the Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism.

    Massey University's Master of Aviation will give you the knowledge and skills you need to gain a more in-depth understanding of aviation and advance your career. This programme offers taught courses and independent research.

    Entry Requirements

    To enter the Master of Aviation, you will have been awarded or qualified for a Bachelor of Aviation, Bachelor of Aviation Management or equivalent qualification, and have achieved a minimum B- grade average in the highest level courses.

    To enter the Master of Analytics you will:

    • have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree in the subject in which you intend to specialise, or equivalent, with a minimum B grade average in the highest level courses
    • have sufficient background in statistical analysis tools to satisfy the Academic Board that you have the capacity to undertake the programme.

    You will provide the following documents:

    • Verified copies of all academic transcripts for studies taken at all universities other than Massey University.
    • Provide a current CV showing all relevant work experience with statistical software.

    This training will give you the skills and knowledge required to write content for a range of purposes and platforms such as content for websites, social media, or for announcements on radio and television.

    You will be required to:
    A. Attend an interview to prove your interest in creating media content.
    B. Provide a portfolio of your writing, video, audio or photographic work.
    C. Complete three comprehension exercises with written, aural and visual comprehension tasks.
    D. Complete a short script editing exercise.

    This qualification will provide you with the skills and knowledge to be competent in a range of Mobile Plant Technology roles. You will gain and apply a broad set of skills and knowledge on a variety of mobile plant vehicles in the automotive service and repair industry.

    Early in the course your skills will be assessed - if you cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level needed you will be enrolled into additional subjects to help you build the skills needed to successfully complete the course.

    - be employed in the auto industry
    - be an Apprentice or Trainee under the Australian Apprenticeship Scheme (AAS) and be registered with an Apprentice Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.

    Additional Information: This qualification may also be achieved through other pathways which do not involve a contract of training, such as recognition of prior learning. In all cases achievement or recognition of competence is necessary in all of the required units of competency to be awarded a national qualification
