    The Graduate Diploma in Arts enables you to study another subject without completing a second bachelor's degree. The graduate diploma is a bridging tool to gain the equivalent of an undergraduate major in a specific area so you can go on to postgraduate study.

    To enter the Graduate Diploma in Arts you will have been awarded or qualified for a bachelor's degree or equivalent.

    Applicants who qualify for entry by other means must demonstrate competency in mathematics (algebra) and physics at least to level 2 or equivalent. This could be:

    • A completed or partially completed New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (NZDE) or National Diploma in Engineering (NDE); or
    • Any other recognised certificate or national certificate containing mathematics and physics to the required level.

    1. New Zealand students under 20 must qualify for University Entrance by completing at least 120 points at level 3, or at least 60 points at level 4 and above if they have completed Year 13 at a New Zealand secondary school, or equivalent.
    2. If your previous studies include study at level 5 or above you may qualify for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

    Applicants will automatically be offered a place in this programme if they have a rank score of 250 or higher, along with 14 NCEA level 3 credits in each of Calculus and Physics or CIE A levels in Mathematics and Physics.

    To enter the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts you will have been awarded or qualified for the Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in the intended postgraduate subject, or equivalent.

    You will need to have achieved a grade average in your bachelor degree that demonstrates an adequate level of preparation for the postgraduate programme. This normally means that a B- grade average or above is required.

    To enter the Postgraduate Diploma in Arts (Psychology) you will have been awarded or qualified for the Bachelor of Arts degree with a Psychology major, with at least a B- grade average in the 300-level Psychology courses, or equivalent.
